You need a captain who knows how to navigate, along with chief engineers who know every detail of engines, plus experienced crews on board ships, and a management team on land that understands every detail.

At Antlia, the offshore fleet management shipping services & ship management unit of the Alphard Group, that’s what we do.

We come from a long history of shipping. Most of our key managers have served on ships as captains, chief officers, and masters. This in-depth knowledge has been the key to our success. Today’s ships are bigger than those of the past, and there’s much more cargo, and ship traffic is increasing rapidly. And unfortunately, the number of ports is not growing together with the fleet. The difficulties are growing by the day.

So if you don’t have well-trained people on your ship, you expose yourself to some imminent problems later.

Dry Dock & Ship Repairs

Ships these days cost millions of dollars to build and then occasionally, like everything else on the planet, they require maintenance too. This ship maintenance and repair happen in dry dock.

What’s Dry docking anyway?

Dry Docking Service is when a ship is taken out of the water completely to access those parts which are usually underwater. The dry dock is a structured area wherein construction, repairs, and maintenance of merchant vehicles are carried out.

SOLAS survey

At Altair, our unique construction arrangement allows water to be filled up in an area so that vessels can be maneuvered in and out of the area, comfortably.

As per Safety of Life at Sea, or SOLAS requirements, all merchant’s vessels require a complete survey of the hull in a dry dock, twice within a five year period, and an intermediate survey within 36 months.

Alphard Maritime Dry Docking Service includes maintenance of:

  • Hull
  • Propeller
  • Rudder
  • Other parts of the ship immersed in water

Features of Altair’s dry dock facilities

Athena: Dry Cargo Chartering

Ship Chartering / Ship Hiring is simply the renting of a ship from a shipowner, which in this case is us. We are Athena, a unit of the Alphard Maritime group, specializing in Dry Cargo Shipping.

A charterer rents or hires from a shipowner by paying the freight.

Alphard Maritime: Marine Offshore Construction

Offshore construction is the installation of structures and facilities in a marine environment, usually for the production and transmission of electricity, oil, gas, and other resources. Construction and pre-commissioning is typically performed as much as possible inland to optimize the costs and risks of installing large offshore platforms.

Alphard Maritime not only provides marine assets and construction materials but also participates in Offshore Construction projects in the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent.

Offshore construction strategies

Different construction strategies we help implement:

  • Full construction for offshore facility done onshore: The installation is towed to the site floating on its own buoyancy after it has been assembled in a land site. Bottom founded structures are lowered to the seabed by ballasting, whilst floating structures are held in position with substantial marine systems.
  • Modular Construction: The size of offshore lifts can be reduced by making the construction modular, with each module being constructed onshore, and then lifted using a crane vessel into place onto the platform
  • Specialist floating hotel vessels known as ‘flotels’ are used to accommodate the workers during the construction and hookup phases. This is a high-cost activity due to the limited space and access to materials.
